- Available only to students and graduate students of the university, faculty and staff, and staff of the affiliated hospital.

Procedures for use
- If you are using the Yamagata University library for the first time, you will need to register, so please apply at the service desk.
- Faculty and staff (faculty and affiliated hospital) who request a library card will be issued, so please inquire at the service desk.
- You can also use this library with a library card issued at a library on another campus.

Notes
- Please remain quiet and refrain from any behavior that may cause a nuisance to other users.
- Only water (hot water) and tea (without sugar) in sealable containers such as plastic bottles or thermoses may be brought into the library.
- Bringing in food, smoking, talking on mobile phones, taking pictures, and taking videos are prohibited.
- Please handle books and magazines with care, making sure they are not written on or damaged, and never cut them out or take them out without permission.
- A device to prevent unauthorized removal is installed in front of the service desk. If the alarm sounds, please follow the instructions of the staff.
- The loan period for students and graduate students is until the end of February in the year of graduation/completion.
- Do not leave your belongings unattended, and always keep your valuables on you.
- Please park your bicycle in the designated area.
- If you have any questions, please feel free to ask the service desk.

In-library browsing
- The books and magazines on the shelves are available for free browsing.
- If you wish to use materials in the closed stacks, please submit an application form at the service desk during staffed opening hours. Materials can be retrieved and returned only from 8:45am to 5pm on weekdays. If you apply outside of these hours, please come back the following weekday.

- Books and academic journals are stored in our library and in some research laboratories.
- Many academic journals are now available on the Internet as electronic journals, and can be accessed from anywhere on campus as long as you have a computer connected to the university LAN. (However, some titles are only available at the Iida Campus.)

- Students and graduate students must present their student ID card at the service desk to complete the loan procedure.
- Faculty and staff members should present their library card or fill out the loan register.
- Faculty and staff members who wish to apply for a library card should apply at the service desk.

- Books can be renewed (extended) once only if there is no reservation. (Long-term loans cannot be extended.)
- If there are overdue books, they cannot be borrowed.
- If a book is lost or soiled, you will be asked to replace it with an identical item.

- Loans cannot be renewed.
You can also use the card-operated (public expense) or coin-operated (private expense, black and white only) copy machines in front of the service desk. Please fill out the in-library document copying application form.

Return a book
- Please return items to the library service desk by the due date.
- When the library is closed, please return items to the book drop post on the east side of the porch on the first floor of the YU-MAI Center (in front of the Student Center entrance) or in front of the library's second floor entrance.
- Please return audiovisual materials (DVDs, etc.) directly to the service desk without putting them in the book drop post.
- Books borrowed from libraries on other campuses can be returned to the School of Medicine Library.
- Books borrowed from the School of Medicine Library can also be returned to libraries on other campuses.

Delivery Service
- You can order and borrow books from libraries on other campuses.
- You can borrow three books for two weeks.
- Please apply at the service desk.
- Books held in research laboratories may not be available for loan.
- Please contact us each time you wish to renew your loan.

Document copying
Copy materials held by the library
- Faculty and staff members may use the publicly-funded card-operated copier (color copy available) located in front of the service desk.
- Private coin-operated photocopiers (black and white only) are also available.
- Before making copies, please fill out the necessary information on the In-Library Document Copy Application Form and place it in the box provided.
- In accordance with the provisions of the Copyright Act, copying is limited to one copy per person of a portion (less than half) of materials held by the Library. In addition, please use this material in accordance with the provisions of copyright law.

Use of libraries at other universities
n principle, at national universities, you can use the library by presenting your student ID card, but at public and private universities and the Japan Medical Association Medical Library, you will need a letter of introduction. If you wish to use libraries at other universities, please inquire at the service desk. Please note that, in principle, you cannot use the library only for a seat.
